“I have said that Texas is a state of mind, but I think it is more than that. It is a mystique closely approximating a religion. And this is true to the extent that people either passionately love Texas or passionately hate it and, as in other religions, few people dare to inspect it for fear of losing their bearings in mystery or paradox. But I think there will be little quarrel with my feeling that Texas is one thing. For all its enormous range of space, climate, and physical appearance, and for all the internal squabbles, contentions, and strivings, Texas has a tight cohesiveness perhaps stronger than any other section of America. Rich, poor, Panhandle, Gulf, city, country, Texas is the obsession, the proper study and the passionate possession of all Texans.”
-John Steinbeck, 1962
THE L&W MISSION
Certainly an epic name for what has become an epic restaurant. Love & War in Texas is a restaurant developed by native Texan Tye Phelps who believes the philosophy described by Mr. Steinbeck.
The concept was created to promote Texas, Texans, Texas food and Texas Heritage. You will not find any “sushi” or “Alaskan snow crab” on our menu. Only fresh Texas Gulf seafood, Texas produce and Texas grown meats… all cooked into authentic Texas recipes. To compliment the cuisine, L&W has an extensive “all-Texas” wine list and an equally impressive collection of Texas Beers.
Live Texas music has become a tradition at L&W. Texas singers and songwriters from around the state are finding their way to what is quickly becoming a central gathering place for Texas music and Musicians.
Come join us for Texas food, fun and music and you’ll know why Texas is known as the friendship state.
We have two locations: Plano, TX and Lindale, TX. Each location features live, Texas Music.
Treat your party of 10 to 10,000 to a true Taste Tour of Texas. Love and War in Texas can produce the ultimate Texas experience, at either of our ranch houses, or at your place. From food, to décor, to entertainment and cultural productions, we can do it all.
